Memories of The Bedford
I enjoyed every second of James' performance, he was simply superb.
James dominated the stage, and showed that he is a true star. It was
great seeing him perform with a band and his guests, Hayley Evetts
and Alistair.
I loved seeing him playing keyboards again and enjoyed the rockier
numbers that he sang during the evening. High spots were James
singing 'Hurts When You're Gone', 'Rescue Me', 'Maggie May' and
'Sit Down', but really I just loved all the songs he did and again, cover
songs he made his own.
I'm sure he will go down a storm when he performs them in a more
public arena. 'Stuck On Your Love', 'Something About Her', 'Gone
Wrong' and 'Needing You' had all been developed and sounded
wonderful. James' voice is very powerful, but also has a lovely delicate,
gentle quality to it when needed.
He clearly enjoyed working with a band and it was great watching him
give such an exciting, physical performance, especially when he played
his guitar. He had so much energy and his own love of music showed
in every song. He is such a tremendous and very talented musician.
James really knows how to interact with other musicians as well as his audience. His professionalism and experience stood out during the evening and nothing phased him, even when his guitar string broke.
For me, James is such a charismatic person and his enthusiasm for music is infectious. He involves his audience and makes everyone feel a special part of the evening. He makes his performance feel intimate, even though the venue is packed with people and I feel this is a gift that few possess. He does the same afterwards, when he meets and greets people, everyone feels that they have shared a little moment. James is a truly special person.
It was wonderful to see how much James enjoyed the evening, a smile never left his face, just like during his performance in the Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul.
In my opinion, we witnessed an awesome performance by an enormously talented singer/songwriter, who is also an exceptional pianist and guitarist. James has every reason to feel proud of what he had accomplished at The Bedford on Tuesday. I for one was very proud of him. He deserved his standing ovation.
The memory of this fantastic evening will stay in my mind forever.
Thank you, James.
